On a day when the temperature here (Minneapolis, MN) is expected to surpass 100 degrees F for the third time this season—the most since the severe drought year 1988—I just have to toss out this relevant anniversary:

“On July 17, 1902, [Willis] Carrier, a young research engineer just a year out of Cornell University, finalized the design to stabilize the humidity in the air so the dimensions of the paper at the Sackett & Wilhelms Lithography and Printing Company in Brooklyn, N.Y., would remain constant throughout the printing process. Since then this innovation has been applied to everything from malls to manufacturing facilities, buses to businesses and houses to hospitals – all looking to establish a comfortable environment.  – Carrier Corporation [another source indicates that he submitted drawings on this date in Buffalo, NY]

Most appropriately, the Sun in this chart is in exact opposition to Saturn (strong in domicile, Capricorn): the culmination of an effort to reduce (Saturn) the heating effect of the Sun. A noon chart shows the Moon (representing comfort, the environment, and the hour “hand” of events) about four hours past a conjunction with Uranus (invention), a bit less past opposition to Pluto (profound alteration) and Venus (ease, luxury), two days before a Full Moon conjunct Saturn.

How typically uncanny.
